New Beginnings

The ASR Pro4 UK series is coming.

No. 92 ASR Pro UK Series Chevrolet

A new and exciting racing series is due to hit British circuits in 2015. The ASR Pro4 UK Series is the most potentially exciting new venture for as long as I can remember.

The brainchild of Alan Currall it aims to bring fast, competitive and accessible racing to Britain’s best race tracks. Marketing manager Richard Fletcher and Currall are both big NASCAR fans and the design of the car combines the look of a stock car and a GT car.

The kids are the future of motorsport and we need to look after them

ASR Pro4 UK Marketing Manager Richard Fletcher

"It"s my aim to follow the lead of NASCAR and give the fans access to the drivers,"  Richard Fletcher told Motorsport.com "We are aiming to make our meetings family friendly and get the drivers to sign autographs and chat to the youngsters. The kids are the future of motorsport and we need to look after them."

However, as Richard told me it's not just about the racing.

"Every weekend will be an event. We will have bands and all sorts of artists performing plus we will make sure there is plenty for the kids to do. There will be affordable refreshments available including street food stands and in time we aim to have an assimilator of the cars and give people the experience driving that particular circuit."

TV deal

They already have a TV deal in place with Motors TV to cover every round and they guarantee each driver will receive plenty of air time. As for the grid, they aim to make it affordable for drivers to take part and are aiming for a 26 car grid. One aim that really does appeal is to build a car that sounds as good as it looks and I have no doubt they will succeed.

It's time to take motorsport back to the fans!

Probably the biggest attraction for any would be drivers is that the prize for winning the series is a drive in the following year's NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. An excellent prize indeed! For any would be driver to have a chance of driving within the NASCAR family it is a massive chance. They will be part of an excellent package along with the British Pick Up Truck Series, Legends Series, British Truck Series(the big trucks) and various guest series'.

It's early days and they hope to have the 1st car produced by Christmas with a view of been at the Autosport International Show in January. The innaugral season is due to to start in July 2015 with the aim of a full year in 2016 hopefully with some oval racing.

Richard Fletcher has hit on a fantastic idea and I have no doubt it will be a huge success.
My opinion is that with the exciting long term plans they have, this really sounds like the start of Britain and Europe's answer to the NASCAR ladder. Step by step up to NASCAR itself, but the final word is Richard's.

Fletcher ended it with, "It's time to take motorsport back to the fans!"
