Jay Fogleman, the Short Track Shark, swam to third in the USAR Hooters ProCup championship points standings following the Oct. 18 running of the Mark Brooks Memorial Bi-Lo 250 presented by Blacks Tire Service at Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway.
Starting the JFco Motorsports, Lucas Oil Products Ford No. 4 from the 21st position, Fogleman steadily picked his way to the front.
"We set the car up for the long run," Fogleman said. "We didn't qualify well, but by the end of the race it was coming to us; our plan came together."
The Lucas Oil Ford No. 4 came together with another car in a late-race incident while battling for third, but Fogleman held on to the wounded machine to finish fifth.
Only 34 points out of the points lead, Fogleman will be a threat to win the next two USAR Hooters ProCup events at Georgia's Peach State Motor Speedway and USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla.
"These next two tracks have been good to me," Fogleman said. "I'm looking forward to them."
