Pete Knight Racing Takes BFGoodrich Tires Pit Crew Challenge
Rockingham, N.C.--They've done it all year, and they did it again during the BFGoodrich Tires Pit Crew Challenge at Rockingham Speedway on Friday afternoon.
The Pete Knight Racing team clipped off a 22.46 second stop to claim the $2,000 bonus and title of Pro Cup Pit Crew Champions for the 2008 season.
"On a regular Saturday night, they only get one chance to get it right, so it's really hard to get in a rhythm," said Wes Ward, crew chief for the No. 81s Sears Auto Center Chevrolet. "But these guys come in three days a week and work hard just to come out and do one pit stop. They worked hard for this, and they deserve it. We had a penalty [loose lug], but it was still good enough to win."
With the pit crew title in hand, Ward's attention quickly turned to tomorrow's Black's Tire America 200.
"We're going to celebrate a little bit, but the big picture is the $150,000 check for winning the point championship," said Ward. "Hopefully this got the guys in the mood for getting their pictures taken and we could do it again tomorrow."
