GUY DREIER WINS GTA CLASS IN CYTOMAX SPORT DRINK 100 TRANS-AM RACE
DENVER (Aug. 13, 2005) -- Rookie Guy Dreier won the GTA portion of Saturday's Cytomax Sport Drink 100 Trans-Am race, part of the CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver presented by PacifiCare weekend. Dreier (No. 13 Team Snappy Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo) passed points leader Tim Barber early in the race and sailed to the GTA victory.
"My dream has always been to run with guys like this," said Dreier. "This was a real opportunity for me; just to be on the same track with them. This is a really special moment for me. I do this for fun and we just decided before San Jose to purchase a GTA car. I had never been on a street course before, so we had a lot of fun.
"This is like a dream come true for me."
The GTA Class features V8-powered, tube-framed sedans. Eligible makes and models include Pontiac Grand Prix, Dodge Intrepid, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Ford Thunderbird and Taurus and Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The Class will be recognized with its own championship, as well as recognition in each race this season.
