PAUL GENTILOZZI TOPS FIRST-ROUND TRANS-AM PRACTICE AT DENVER
DENVER (Aug. 12, 2005) -- Paul Gentilozzi set the fastest time in first-round practice Friday for tomorrow's Cytomax Sport Drink 100 Trans-Am Series race at the CENTRIX Grand Prix of Denver presented by PacifiCare. The four-time Trans-Am titleholder turned the 1.657-mile temporary street course in one minute, 14.189 seconds (60.623 miles per hour), driving the No. 1 Jaguar R Performance XKR.
Points leader Randy Ruhlman was second fastest in the No. 49 Preformed Line Products Chevrolet Corvette, ahead of John Baucom (No. 86 MAP Quality Engineering/SoftwareToolbox.com Ford Mustang). Greg Pickett (No. 6 Cytomax Jaguar XKR) and Tomy Drissi (No. 5 Four Brothers -- The Movie Jaguar XKR) completed the top five.
Qualifying is scheduled for 4 p.m. MDT today. The Cytomax Sport Drink 100, Round 7 of the 2005 Trans-Am Championship, is scheduled for tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. MDT. Saturday's race will air on a tape-delayed basis, Saturday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
