The Grand Prix of Long Beach, Long Beach, CA
Qualifying - Saturday, April 7, 2001

Rookie of the Year - hopeful qualifies 14th in first street course effort Round 2 of the Trans Am B.F. Goodrich Cup saw the sun come out and a rookie shine as a wet morning gave way to blue skies and a 14th place qualifying effort for Paul D. Fix II and his #77 Classic Tube 'Bent on Perfection' Mustang Cobra. Following his promising practice session on Friday afternoon, Paul made a smooth, cool-headed charge up the field cutting his qualifying lap time down to 1.25 minutes.

As the green flag drops on Sunday's race, Paul's mid-pack starting place will give him a hard look at the leaders and his target.

Qualifying Quotes Paul Fix II - "I'm still learning the course, but there is a lot more left in the car, my abilities as well. I am still getting used to this street course."

Gary Johnson, Crew Chief - "I am really pleased with our qualifying, I know the Paul's got more."

-Lauren Fix
