Paul Gentilozzi Fastest in Final Trans-Am Practice at Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 17, 2004) -- Paul Gentlozzi proved he still knows his way around the Long Beach temporary street course as the driver of the No. 3 Jaguar XKR topped the third and final practice for Sunday's Motorock Trans-Am Series race Saturday. Gentilozzi recorded a 1:22.873-minute lap at 85.490 miles per hour late in the 30-minute session on the 1.968-mile track at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Pole winner Tommy Kendall was second fastest, ahead of Boris Said, Michael Lewis and Greg Pickett.
"We knew the No. 3 car had more in it," said Gentilozzi, who will start fourth in the race, and is the only four-time winner here. "We expect even faster results in tomorrow's race."
Kendall will lead the Trans-Am field to the green flag tomorrow at approximately 3:45 p.m., immediately following the Champ Car World Series event.
