MICHAEL LEWIS LEADS SECOND-ROUND TRANS-AM PRACTICE AT PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
PORTLAND, Ore. (June 17, 2005) -- Michael Lewis was the king of the rain in second-round practice Friday for Saturday's Rose City 100 Trans-Am race at Portland International Raceway. Lewis (No. 12 Autocon Engineering Jaguar XKR) drove his fuel-injected entry to first on the charts with at 1:14.235-minute lap at 95.243 miles per hour. Lewis was fastest in changing weather conditions, which were generally overcast, with light rain at times.
Rookie Klaus Graf was second fastest in the No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR, followed by Greg Pickett (No. 6 Cytomax Jaguar XKR), Joey Scarallo (No. 06 Group A Wheels/Autotrend Chevrolet Corvette) and defending Rookie of the Year Philip Simms (No. 24 Simms Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette).
Qualifying is scheduled for later today, at 4 p.m. The Rose City 100, Round 2 of the 2005 Trans-Am Championship and part of the G.I. Joe's Presents the Champ Car Grand Prix weekend, is scheduled for Saturday, June 18 at 4 p.m. Saturday's race will air on a tape-delayed basis, Sunday, June 26 at 1 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
