GENTILOZZI DOUBLES UP; TOPS TRANS-AM SECOND ROUND AT TORONTO
TORONTO (July 8, 2005) -- Paul Gentilozzi continued to show his street course dominance Friday as he set the fastest time in second-round practice for the Trans-Am in T.O. at the Molson Indy Toronto. Gentilozzi (No. 1 Jaguar R Performance XKR), who is making his 201st start this weekend, recorded a 1:12.840-minute lap around the 1.755-mile temporary circuit. Gentilozzi was also fastest in first-round practice this morning.
Gentilozzi's teammate, German rookie Klaus Graf was second fastest, just a tick off Gentilozzi's speed in the No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR. 1978 Trans-Am champion Greg Pickett (No. 6 Cytomax Jaguar XKR) was third quick, followed by Tomy Drissi (No. 5 Motocross -- The Movie Jaguar XKR) and points leader Randy Ruhlman (No. 49 Preformed Line Products Chevrolet Corvette).
Qualifying is scheduled for today at 4:00 p.m. The Trans-Am in T.O., Round 4 of the 2005 Trans-Am Championship and part of the Molson Indy Toronto weekend, is scheduled for Saturday, July 9 at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's race will air on a tape-delayed basis, Sunday, July 17 at 12:30 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
