5 Drivers Post FQs; Busy Earl's Week Ahead
Five different drivers posted Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier efforts during USAC racing action last week and seven different drivers continue to lead the divisional Earl's standings going into one of USAC's busiest weekends ever. Earl's FQ honors are up for grabs in eight different series Wednesday through Saturday.
Drivers posting FQ honors this past weekend were John Wolfe (National Sprint Cars at Gas City, IN), Michael Lewis (Western Sprint Cars at Madera, CA), Tony Hunt (Western Midgets at Madera), Sam Beam (Carolina/Virginia Ford Focuses at Hickory, NC) and Nick Morago (California Focuses at Madera).
Earl's honors are available this week at Memphis, TN (Weld Racing Silver Crown, Valvoline National Sprint and Midwest Focus), Indianapolis, IN (Midwest Focus), Anderson, CA (Valvoline Western Sprint), Hanford, CA (Western Midget), and Watsonville and Hanford, CA (California Focus),
Points are traditionally awarded at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9. 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.
Each USAC National, Western and Ford Focus Midget Car Earl's Plumbing FQ Champion will be honored at USAC's Champions Night ceremony in Indianapolis in December. The National and Western FQ champs will receive $5,000 each, while the Ford Focus FQ champs will each receive $1,500.
