Earl's Fast Qualifier update 2003-07-07

Yeley, Drake top Earl's performers at PPIR

J.J. Yeley and Jay Drake topped the qualifying lists at Pikes Peak International Raceway July 3, enhancing their positions as leaders in 2003 Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier Championships.

Yeley paced Weld Racing Silver Crown and National/Western Midget Car qualifying, while Drake topped the National/Western Sprint Car list with his record effort. Yeley continues to lead the Earl's Silver Crown, National and Western Midget Car standings, while Drake tops the National Sprint Car list and Rick Hendrix, who did not compete at PPIR, still leads the Western Sprint Car standings.

Earl's points this week will be distributed to top qualifiers in USAC National Sprint Car events at Toledo, Ohio Friday night and Indianapolis Raceway Park Saturday night.

This year, each USAC National and Western Series qualifying champion will receive a $5,000 bonus from Earl's in recognition of their accomplishment. Points are earned at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9. 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.
