Joshua Clemons of Noblesville, Ind. scored back-to-back feature victories in USAC Ford Focus Midget racing Wednesday and Saturday and now ranks in the "top-10" in the Midwest Series standings as a result. Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif. won Saturday's 20-lapper at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway and now leads both the California North and South Series standings.
Clemons led all but the first five laps of Wednesday's 50-lapper at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome, then paced the final four laps of Saturday afternoon's 20-lapper at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky. The wins came in his Clemons Hauling Kenyon car. He passed Kyle Robbins on lap six at the Speedrome, then beat Tate Martz, Courtney Kirts, Rex Norris III and Jamie Williams to the checkered flag. At Sparta, he assumed the lead on lap 17 after Brice Kenyon and Brandon Hartsell tangled, then led Ryan Litt, Kevin Studley, Ginny Quinones and Brad Loyet to the line. Hartsell had led the first 16 laps.
The Kentucky race, held between the track's ARCA 150 and NASCAR Craftsman Truck 225, afforded points toward both the Midwest and Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Series championships and showcases stars of both series.
Rahe trailed Bobby Michnowicz for 16 laps at Bakersfield Saturday, then led the final four laps in his Panelite/JIM Stealth to beat Michnowicz, Bradley Galedrige, Eric Pace and Todd Hunsaker.
Ryan Litt leads the Midwest series to this Sunday night's event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. where Tate Martz and Trenton Darland put on a spectacular duel for the win June 20. Chase Scott, despite his failure to make Saturday's Kentucky feature, leads the Carolina/Virginia Series to this Saturday's race at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C. Rahe will be out to protect his California North Series lead in this Saturday night's event at Stockton 99 Speedway.
