Milwaukee Mile Welcomes USAC Silver Crown Return
WEST ALLIS, WIS. (December 15, 2004) -- The Milwaukee Mile will once again hold a 100-mile United States Auto Club (USAC) Weld Racing Silver Crown Series event this coming race season. The July 22-24, 2005 event weekend pairs the exciting open wheel racers of USAC with the stars of the Indianapolis 500, as the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series will share the weekend at the historic speedway.
"Over 170 USAC-sanctioned races have taken place at The Milwaukee Mile since the league was formed in 1956, and we are proud of USAC's heritage in the 101 years of rich racing tradition and history we enjoy at The Milwaukee Mile," commented Mark Perrone, Vice President / General Manager of the speedway. "We welcome back USAC President Rollie Helmling, USAC Series Coordinator Jason Smith and all the fine USAC participants who will compete in the 100-mile USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series race on Saturday, July 23, 2005."
Californian Jay Drake captured the victory in the 100-mile USAC Silver Crown event held July 24, 2004. It was the first USAC event contested at The Milwaukee Mile in 12 years.
The USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship Series enters its 35th season of competition in 2005 as the keystone series of an organization celebrating its 50th season of racing.
