STEELE, WISE, SCOTT TAKE "MOPAR-PRI SPRINT-MIDGET" FEATURES
USAC's 50th year of racing concludes December 29-30 with the "Rumble in Fort Wayne" indoor races at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. USAC National, Regional, Kenyon and Ford Focus Midget participants will all be involved in the special non-points event which features two nights of racing capped by feature events both nights. Also on the card are events for Outlaw Winged Midgets (600s), Go-Karts, Quarter Midgets and NASKARTS.
Three 2005 USAC driving champions posted feature event victories in Friday night's "Mopar-PRI Sprint & Midget Classic" at Orlando Speedworld Speedway in Florida.
Dave Steele, USAC's 2005 Weld Racing Silver Crown Champion, won Friday's 40-lap Sprint car feature, leading all 40 laps in his Mopar/West Coast Roofing & Waterproofing Beast/Mopar. Trailing the Tamps, Fla. driver at the checkered flag were Tracy Hines, Marc Jessup, Bobby East and Brian Tyler. Bryan Clauson was the fastest qualifier and Bobby Santos III won a 12-lap "last chance" race.
Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif., USAC's 2005 National Midget Champion, led the final seven laps of the 40-lap Midget race in his Tony Stewart Racing Mopar/Vital Express Beast/Mopar. Fast qualifier Tracy Hines finished second ahead of Steele, Jay Drake and Billy Wease. Wise finished 17th in his bid to come from last starting position to win in the 40-lap Sprint feature. A victory in the Sprint race would have earned Wise a $50,000 cash bonus posted by Impact Racing. Tom Hessert III won the 12-lap Midget "last chance" race.
Chase Scott of Concord, N.C., USAC's 2005 Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Champion, led the last 12 laps of the 20-lap Ford Focus feature at Orlando in his Real Race Cars/J & L Industrial Supply Beast to beat Michael Sboro, Aron Oakley, Ryan Smith and Casey Riggs. Scott was the fastest qualifier, while heats went to Dana Messier, Smith and Craig Haack. Sboro won the eight-lap "semi."
