Jessup Takes Second on the High Banks of Salem Speedway
CAMBY, Ind. -- Marc Jessup completed a late race charge to take second in the Joe James/Pat O'Connor Classic held at the Salem Speedway Saturday night. Taking second in the USAC/Valvoline National Sprint Car race to Dave Steel, Jessup qualified eighth in the strong field of cars.
Jessup out qualified drivers such as Cory Kruseman and Josh Ford on Saturday in his Jessup Racing, Bill Davis Racing sponsored Beast Chassis, Foxco powered sprinter. Jessup raced his way to second in his heat race behind Aaron Pierce.
"I love the high banks of Salem Speedway. After running Eldora for the Mopar Thunder Sprint, this track seems so high-banked and fast, even compared to Eldora," commented Jessup.
In the feature event, Jessup was able to catch the leaders on lap fourteen, but was never able to make the pass on Steele for the win. The second place finish was a season-high for Jessup, who has yet to get a 2004 victory.
Up next for Jessup Racing, LLC, will be the Nazareth Speedway in Nazareth, Pennsylvania on August 28, 2004. You can follow all of Marc Jessup's results and progress at www.tjslideways.com. Look for the new JessupRacing.com to be launched soon!
