Flock, Rodela Continue Western Midget Battle At Perris
Three-time USAC Western Midget Car Champion Robby Flock and relative newcomer Jerome Rodela continue their battle for the USAC Western Midget Car Series Championship this Saturday night at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Flock, of Murietta, Calif., who earned titles in 1993, 1989 and 1986, leads Rodela, of El Monte, Calif., by 13 points going into the Perris event, which offers a total of 72 points. Third-ranking Danny Stratton of Riverside, Calif. is also mathematically able to challenge for the series point lead at Perris, 42 points behind Flock in third place in the standings.
A 30-lap feature is on tap at the 1/2-mile dirt Perris oval. Flock won the August race at Perris, with Rodela finishing second and Stratton 16th.
