Today, the team began preparing for Aston Martin's return to the Le Mans 24 Hours later this month. During the course of two official practice sessions, the team were able to complete a total of nine hours running time for each of its two DBR9s and start work on optimising the race setup.
Team Principal Insight
"As the build-up to the race continues, today offered the first opportunity to get the Le Mans driver line-up together and conduct some initial testing on the circuit ahead of qualifying.
"A whole day of testing allowed us to give every driver time in the car, especially important for Stephane (Sarrazin) and Tomas (Enge), who have less race experience in the DBR9.
Our lap times today were encouraging - although this is not necessarily indicative of our performance in the race it provides a valuable benchmark for the race week ahead." - George Howard-Chappell
Race Engineer Insights
"This will be a fourth consecutive Le Mans appearance for Tomas, so we know he's familiar with the circuit, but it was still good to give him an extended run in the car today as he hasn't raced with the team yet this year." - Jody Egginton (Car 58)
"We have a clear plan of what we want to achieve from this test and we've stuck to it - things have run to schedule and we've made progress.
Priority today was to get Stephane (Sarrazin) back in the car and he re- discovered his Sebring form very quickly." - Dave Wilcock (Car 59)
