Team Nasamax announces third driver

Kevin McGarrity Third Driver For Le Mans 24 Hours With Green Fuel Team Nasamax

Team Nasamax announced today that Belfast driver Kevin McGarrity will join the team for the 24 Hours race in June. Kevin is a former Formula Ford World Champion and has also raced in Vauxhall Lotus, F3, International F3000 and classic sportscars. He has previously raced twice at Le Mans in MG Lolas in 2001 and 2002, running third during the race in both years, with fellow Brits Mark Blundell and Julian Bailey.

Kevin, age 30, will be testing the Nasamax DM139 Judd V10 before the Sarthe classic. "I am very happy with Nasamax's choice, we have been very encouraged by the number of very good drivers contacting us and I am sure it was a difficult choice. We are very pleased to have a driver with prototype experience and I am sure he will fit in well with the team," said Team Director John McNeil.

"I am very happy to have this drive," enthused Kevin on Monday. " It's always exciting to drive at Le Mans. I was watching at the Monza LMES race and the car was very impressive. I can't wait to get into it."

The Monza Le Mans Endurance Series 1000km was the Nasamax DM139's first race, and the team finished in eighth position. The car is the only LMP1 prototype running to the new-spec 2004 regulations, and also the only prototype car running on a wholly-renewable fuel, bio-ethanol, a world first last year for the team at both the Sebring 12 Hours and the Le Mans 24 Hours.
