Schatz Closes in on Third Consecutive Title: VAULT World Finals Up Next
Concord, NC-- October 26, 2008--Donny Schatz used his 17th A-Feature win of the season on Saturday night at Heartland Park Topeka to get closer to his third consecutive Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series title. The second annual VAULT World Finals are up next at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, with two full points paying events on the docket. Schatz leads the World of Outlaws with 56 Top-10 finishes in 61 A-Feature events this season and extended his point lead over Jason Meyers to 123 makers heading into the season finale.
Meyers continues to lead the World of Outlaws in Top-Five finishes with 47, which is a career-best for the veteran driver. He also is on top of the leader board in laps led and fast time honors in time trials. The California native won the opener of the VAULT World Finals last season and has nine overall wins with the World of Outlaws this season, including eight A-Features and a preliminary feature.
Steve Kinser picked up his 47th Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday night and continues to hold down the third spot in points. The 20-time series champion has won seven times this season.
Joey Saldana is fourth in points on the strength of 45Top-10 finishes, including on Saturday night at Heartland Park Topeka. The second generation driver has won five times this season. He is 59 points behind Kinser heading into the final weekend of the season.
Craig Dollansky is sixth in points. The Minnesota native has won seven times this season and has 44 Top-10 finishes.
Kerry Madsen is seventh in points. He matched his season-best finish on Saturday night with a runner-up performance at Heartland Park Topeka.
Chad Kemenah earned his 13th Top-Five finish of the season at Heartland Park and is 62 markers behind Madsen.
Terry McCarl picked up his 30th Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday night and moved to within 18 points of Kemenah in the standings.
Daryn Pittman rounds out the Top-10 in the standings, on the strength of 30 Top-10 finishes along with four wins.
Chad Hillier used a Top-15 finishes at Heartland Park to move up a spot in points. The sophomore driver is now 14th.
