The heat's on: Tarquini on pole for SEAT Sport
Today's 30-minute qualifying session for Round 13 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship saw Italy's Gabriele Tarquini secure his second pole position for the SEAT Sport team. Rear-wheel-drive cars dominated the early part of the session, with Tarquini seizing pole around 10 minutes from the end, although hopes of an all-SEAT front row were dashed in the first few seconds when an engine sensor broke on Jordi Gené's car as the Spaniard pressed the starter button. Gené had been fastest in the first of the morning's free practice sessions, but was only 5th after missing the first 10 minutes of qualifying while his mechanics changed the sensor.
Rickard Rydell and Yvan Muller will also start Round 13 of the WTCC in the top 8, with Rydell blaming a poor performance during free practice on tyre problems and Muller suffering from a lack of confidence. Jordi, Rickard and Yvan will, however, all gain a place on the grid following an engine change to the Chevrolet of Rob Huff.
