21/09/2008 - The return of WTCC at Imola has been poor with satisfactions for BMW Team Italy-Spain. After a steep qualifying, with Zanardi twelfth and Porteiro fifteenth, the two races held today finished without points for the BMW 320si managed by ROAL Motorsport: the first manche saw the Spaniard tenth under the chequered flag, followed by the Bolognese in twelfth position.

In race two, the start took Porteiro early out of the games, after a good start he could not avoid the Seat of Gabriele Tarquini, stranded on the starting grid. Zanardi concluded the race in ninth place, right outside points.

Roberto Ravaglia (Team Principal): "We come back from Imola a bit disappointed for a weekend that did not go as expected. During the weekend the track turned out to fit less BMWs that what we thought and this moved us away from our ambitions; without the unfortunate accident at the beginning of race two we would perhaps have got some points, but the overall outcome would have not changed that much."
