MONTEIRO EXCLUDED FROM RACE 2
Following technical checks on his SEAT Leon Tdi car, Tiago Monteiro was excluded from the 6th round of the season that took place at Marrakech on May 3rd.
Following a protest filed by BMW Team Germany, the FIA technical delegate analysed the data logged by the ECU of four different SEAT Sport cars: Monteiro's, Yvan Muller's, Gabriele Tarquini's and Jordi Gene's.
The respect of the limit on the supercharged air pressure imposed by the FIA Touring Car Bureau (decision WTCC_24.02.2009_5) was checked, taking into account the 0.4 bar tolerance. The limit was not exceeded by three of the cars, while the ECU of Monteiro's car recorded two peaks above the limit.
Therefore the Stewards decided to exclude the Portuguese from the second race, in which he classified seventh. His exclusion means that independent drivers Franz Engstler and Tom Coronel are promoted to seventh and eighth respectively.
