4th PLACE AT BRNO A1 GP FEATURE RACE FOR CHENG CONG FU
The second round of the 2007 A1GP series was held at the picturesque Brno circuit in the Czech Republic on the weekend of October 13th and 14th. This race was a major turning point for Team China, showing the world its potential and to win races in the races to come. It proves to the world that with the right package, China is a team to be reckoned with.
The race weekend started very promising for team China in qualifying with Cheng Cong Fu at the wheels. In the sprint race, despite finishing tenth, Frankie set the second fastest lap time of the race. The tenth place finish gave Team China its first points for the season and the lap times were the extra morale boost the team needed for the feature race.
That afternoon in the feature race, everything came together for Frankie as he just missed out on the podium position after having a tough battle with third place Team Switzerland. On the final lap of the race, Cheng put heavy pressure on Team Switzerland but was unable to find a way pass before the checkered flag. The result was an impressive fourth place for Team China and Cheng Cong Fu, a very respectable result for the team and a great confidence booster going into the next race.
After the race Cheng Cong Fu said, "The credit for the good results of the race first of all should go to the team as a whole. Without their technical support and the competitive car prepared by the team, I wouldn't have achieved the result. Today's result was a reward for the enormous hard work that the team had put into this. If we can successfully maintain this momentum, I do believe that podium finishes and even 1st place finishes will come our way."
The next race will be at Malaysia's Sepang circuit on November 25th and watch out for A1 Team China.
