Monterrey: Driver nominations for qualifying

DRIVER NOMINATIONS FOR QUALIFYING

Monterrey, Mexico - The third official practice session for A1 Grand Prix's Mexican race was a quieter affair today as clear conditions meant a dry track and no red flags throughout the hour long session.

There were a few unexpected faces in some of the cars as A1 Teams Australia, China and Mexico all changed their driver nominations before the start of the morning's session. Christian Jones took the place of Marcus Marshall for Australia, Tengyi Jiang swapped with Ma Qinghua in the Chinese car and Salvador Duran drove for Mexico. All three drivers will stay in the car for this afternoon's Qualifying.

Qualifying consists of four 15 minute sessions with a 10 minute break between each. Only one driver per A1 Team is allowed to take part in Qualifying but that driver must have completed at least three timed laps in an Official Practice session. Each driver is limited to three laps - effectively one "flying lap" - per session and must record at least two times, an aggregate of which will determine that A1 Team's position on the grid for Sunday's Sprint race (18 laps). The grid for the Feature race (36 laps) will be determined by the outcome of the Sprint race.
