ANOTHER 24-HOUR VICTORY COMING SOON FOR RISI'S KAFFER?
Risi Competizione's Pierre Kaffer enters next month's 24 Hours of Le Mans with one twice-around-the-clock victory already in hand. The German-born GT2 star was part of the lineup for the SP9-class winning Team ABT Sportsline Audi R8 LMS for over the weekend at the famed Nurburgring 24 Hours. He teamed with Christian Abt, Jean-Francois Hemroulle and Audi factory pilot and 2008 American Le Mans Series LMP1 co-champion Lucas Luhr.
The quartet finished second overall, the second such result for Kaffer. He will team with Jaime Melo and Mika Salo in one of Risi's Ferrari F430 GTs at Le Mans; the trio already have won this year at the 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. Risi is the defending GT2 champion at Le Mans.
The victory at the 'Ring was the latest for Kaffer in an Audi. He won two races in the 2004 American Le Mans Series including an overall win at Sebring. He also won a pair of races in the Le Mans Endurance Series that same season.
