Spring Run, PA_ Big, fast, powerful motorcycles captured all eyes Saturday night at the Path Valley Speedway Park as a contingent of top area Pro and Semi-Pro riders competed in the track's regularly scheduled AMA points race.
Jared Mees of Honeybrook lived up to the action his appearance promised as he narrowly outdistanced Bryan Douglas in the 500 Pro feature. Chris Klinefelter of Reisterstown MD won the 450A a handy few lengths ahead of Mees.
The night's big winner was Shawn Baer of Mechanicsburg who won the Sportsman feature and then came back to win the 750 Open class, the latter just ahead of his dad, Dallas Baer.
The three four-wheeler features were triumphs for Dane Delancey of Port Royal who won all three of them, in the Sportsman, 2-Cycle and 4-Cycle classes. Among the younger riders, Cassidy Heiser of York won on both 65cc and 85cc bikes. Shayna Texter of Willow Street also won two in the pre-teen classes while Corey Texter won two teenage features. Several events in the younger rider classes were combined, but Colton Smith of Street, MD, got two of the various 50cc wins.
The AMA motorcycles and flattrack four-wheelers return to Path Valley July 17, following the Progressive Insurance Amateur Grand Nationals in Illinois the full week of Independence Day.
