Born and raised in Manteca, California, the colorful style and per- sonality of Scott Speed has gotten him far in the racing world across seas, however many may not have assumed that he would have the success that he is has right now in the United States.
The bright young star has gone over and beyond the expectations of many. Coming from what some claim to be the biggest form of motorsports in the world, Formula 1, Speed has captured the eyes of many drivers and fans in America's biggest sport, NASCAR.
Already having won a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in just his sixth career start as well as two ARCA RE/MAX Series wins this year, the California native is climbing the ladder preparing for his Sprint Cup debut. The ever-so-talented driver will compete again this weekend, as he does almost every weekend. Speed will race at the .4 mile Berlin track in Marne, Mich- igan as he tries to make his way to the front of the Championship point stand- ings in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
The rookie driver sits second right now, behind points leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and he hopes to gain ground this Saturday night. With only 10 races remaining in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season, Speed knows now is the time to make his move if he wants to be No. 1.
Speed heads to Berlin Raceway this Saturday night in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Even though Speed has never raced on the .4 mile track, he got some great pointers from NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver and track owner Johnny Ben- son earlier in the week and the rookie driver hopes to make Benson's advice work this weekend.
