Bean Prepares For The Second Short Track Thriller of the ARCA RE/MAX Series
WESTBY, Wisconsin (May 3, 2006) - - - Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Dexter Bean and his crew are ready to rock Winchester's short track event this weekend. Bean and his crew are looking forward to redeeming themselves after a disappointing and unavoidable wreck at Salem Speedway, which knocked them out of the race.
The Winchester ARCA 200 at Winchester Speedway is a one-day event, which will consist of 200 laps, the equivalent of 100 miles. This event kicks off on Sunday May 7, with qualifying at 12:30PM. The green flag waves at 2:30PM. There will also be an ARCA RE/MAX Series Driver autograph session on the track at 1:30PM. This is a great chance for all of Bean's fans to meet him in person before they cheer him around the track.
It has been three years since the ARCA RE/MAX Series has been to Winchester's remarkable track. This .5-mile high-banked paved oval is a challenge that Bean and his crew have been preparing for. They have been working diligently on this racecar, spending the majority of their week off in Mooresville. They have been working side by side with Jeff Spraker of Spraker Racing Enterprises and the rest of Spraker's team to get the car in top condition for the fourth event of the season.Bean will be racing his No. 6 Racin' for a Livin'-Vote4Dexter.com, Five Star Telecom Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This is the same Bill Davis Racing car that he raced in Salem two weeks ago. Bean had one of the top cars on the track during qualifying and during the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200. This weekend, Bean is determined to make it around this wicked fast track with a top finish.
"We should have a great car this weekend. We were very happy with the way it ran on Salem and we are looking forward to running strong throughout the entire race this weekend. I have heard some of the same things about Winchester that I heard about Salem so this race should be fun!," explained Bean.
Aside from preparing for this weekend race, Bean also ventured to Sparta, Kentucky on May 1, to take advantage of an open testing session in preparation for next weekend's race. This was a very beneficial trip for Bean and the BlackJack Racing team. Bean was in the top three during testing for the fastest lap time. Unofficial reports indicate that he was running on top until the end of the session where he was bumped into second place for fastest lap time with a time of 31.180 seconds. These testing results only increase the confidence of Bean and his hard working team.
"We had two really great cars out there during testing and we are all very happy with where we ended up," states Bean.
This testing session is a precursor for the up coming Harley-Davidson of Cincinnati 150 event on Saturday May 13. The green flag waves at 3:00 PM.
