Gresham Looking To Jettison Bad Luck In ARCA Race At Rockingham Saturday
GRIFFIN, GA (October 5, 2010) -- After a string of strong performances that have ended in disappointing finishes, Max Gresham has just one goal in Saturday's American 200 Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) race at Rockingham Speedway.
"I'm really just looking to get the money off my back," said Gresham. "We had such a great first half of the season and the last two months have just been one piece of bad luck after another for me. We've run great only to have bad luck at the end of the race. It's been a real buzz kill on my season. At this point, I'm just looking to get rid of the bad luck and have a good finish."
The 2010 season has been feast or famine for Gresham, a 17-year-old senior student at Woodward Academy in College Park. GA. Gresham scored victories in two of the first NASCAR K&N Pro Series events this season and then won the Tim Richmond Memorial 200 ARCA race at Mansfield (OH) Speedway.
Since then, Gresham has suffered through several misfortunes -- including having his engine expire while leading and coming to the white flag in the NASCAR K&N event at Dover International Speedway two weeks ago.
This weekend, Gresham hopes to break the spell of bad luck wheeling his No. 71 Gresham Motorsports Toyota in the ARCA event at 'The Rock.'
"I had the opportunity to go to Rockingham and test recently and it was quite an experience just to walk into such a historic place," Gresham stated. "For the most part, the test went well. We were at a little disadvantage because of my inexperience, but my Gresham Motorsports guys worked hard and we got better as the test went on. Since then, the guys have gone back to the pull-down rig and they've gotten the car better. I'm confident we'll have a good run this weekend. It would be good to get a solid top-10 over even a top-five without getting crashed or having something break at the end of the race."
