Fastest again, Dalziel seals pole!

Ryan Dalziel continued his reign at the top of the time sheets today in Cleveland as he stormed to pole position for Round 6 of the Toyota Atlantic Championship with a hot lap of 1m06.447s round the Lake Erie track, almost half a second faster than his provisional pole winning time from yesterday's first qualifying session.

With an additional point awarded for today's fastest lap the Scottish ace now starts tomorrow's race just one point off second overall in the championship standings on 113 points to Danica Patrick's 114.

The Sierra Sierra Enterprises racer carried his rich vein of form into today's sessions setting the fastest lap of the weekend in this morning's free practice outing. Ryan harried the #28 ProWorks Swift round the 2.106-mile temporary road course, better known as the converted Burke Lakefront Airport, in 1m06.377s.

Already guaranteed a front-row start having captured the provisional pole yesterday Ryan remained the man to beat in this afternoon's final session and duly sealed his place at the front of the grid for tomorrow's 32-lap race with his time of 1m06.447s. Dalziel's team-mate, Andrew Ranger, sealed a Sierra Sierra Enterprises qualifying 1-2, the young rookie two-tenths shy of Ryan's pole winner.

Having secured his third pole position of the season Ryan commented:

"I'm really happy to have locked-out both qualifying sessions and taken both the points. To gain a couple of points even before the race starts is a real bonus as you only have to look at the points table to see just how tight it is heading into each race. We fought some changing track conditions between the two sessions today but ultimately we kept on top of it and I'm delighted for the team that we've secured a Sierra Sierra front-row!"
