Trois-Rivieres provisional qualifying report

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, Canada - Alexandre Tagliani earned the provisional pole Friday for Sunday's KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship at the Player's Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. Tagliani, of Lachenaie, Que., posted a time of 1:01.845 for an average speed of 88.524 mph. Tagliani will be shooting for his third-straight pole following Saturday's final qualifying. Tagliani also won the Atlantic races here in 1997 and 1998. Points leader Anthony Lazzaro, of Acworth, Ga., was second fastest in provisional qualifying with a time of 1:02.401. Kenny Wilden, of Burlington, Ont., was third fastest at 1:02.483. Final qualifying is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's round seven of the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship is scheduled for a 1:45 p.m. local start.
