Edoardo Piscopo grabs AutoGP lead at Brno
A great start is what Edoardo Piscopo experienced at Brno, in the first-ever AutoGP race. The driver from Rome cruised to a double podium finish on his DAMS Lola B02/52, and is currently standing as the series' leader together with Luca Filippi. Piscopo climbed up to 2nd on Race 1, after taking a row 2 spot in qualifying, while the front-runner took advantage from an early stop. On Race 2, he recovered from 7th to 3rd, by driving steadily over the whole distance. As the series will be back running on May 23, Piscopo is leading in standings with 12 points.
Edoardo Piscopo
"I feel I'm finally back fighting after a really hard season. On Race 1 I improved my
position, as I started from 3rd and I brought home 2nd, while the car up front made a good
strategy and was tough to catch. As I started Race 2 from 7th place, I wasn't really
expecting too much, I would have been content with a points finish, but eventually I made it
once again on the podium, and that's great. I'm so happy to be here in AutoGP, with a
great team like DAMS. The car is great, close to the GP2 Series feeling, and we have
some truly great names racing. I hadn't expected to come out of Brno in the championship
lead, but now we have to keep working hard and think about the next race at Imola."
