Lotterer Donington race notes

Jaguar Racing's young German driver, Andre Lotterer, secured his fifth podium finish of the season today, finishing second in round seventeen of the Green Flag British Formula Three Championship, held at Donington Park. Team-mate James Courtney collected points in just one of the day's races to consolidate his third spot in the Championship standings.

Race One
Andre qualified seventh on the grid and gained a place off the line. For the first half of the race he held station, but was able to gain two places on lap eight, overtaking Jeffrey Jones and benefiting from Anthony Davidson's retirement. On lap 12, Andre became embroiled in a tussle with Gianmaria Bruni and Derek Hayes for the lead, all three seeking to take advantage of Takuma Sato's retirement. Andre ultimately claimed second behind Bruni, in what many were claiming was the most exciting Formula Three race of recent years.

James qualified ninth on the grid, but his race was to be short-lived, as on the first lap, James, Matt Davies and Bruce Jouanny all battled through McLeans together, with none of them emerging to complete the lap.

Race Two
Andre qualified second on the grid alongside Sato. On the third lap, he conceded places to Mark Taylor and Matt Davies at the first turn, Redgate. On the seventh lap, he should have benefited from Taylor's stop/go penalty for jumping the start, but instead was to remain in fourth place, after Jouanny overtook when he ran wide at the Old Hairpin.

James held his ninth place off the line, but dropped to tenth on lap three, as Davidson made his way back up the field after a bad start. His track position was to benefit not only from Taylor's stop/go penalty but also Andy Priaulx's, given for the same offence. James finished the race eighth, to pick up three points.

Championship Standings
The top five places in the standings remain unchanged. Sato continues to lead the Championship with 237 points and Hayes is second with 174 points. James has 146 points closely followed by Davidson with 138 and Andre with 125 points.
