Double Pole for Carlin in Season Opener
In a sunny but windy qualifying session, Carlin Motorsport claimed a double pole for the first race of the season, with Jaime Alguersuari (#4 Carlin Motorsport) taking the top spot with a time of 1:28.441 and Andy Meyrick taking the National Class pole with a time of 1:29.856.
The first half of the session was a frantic affair with the provisional pole position being fought over by Alguersuari, Oliver Turvey (#17 Carlin Motorsport), Walter Grubmuller (#2 Hitech Racing), Max Chilton (#1 Hitech Racing) and Brendon Hartley (#3 Carlin Motorsport). However an incident at Brittens saw the 6th placed Dallara of Sergio Perez (#9 T Sport) beached in a dangerous position, causing the session to be halted.
With 8 minutes remaining the session went green but the momentum had been lost and the status quo at the top of the leader board remained as the chequered flag came out.
