Snetterton: Atte Mustonen weekend summary

Atte Mustonen sixth in British F3 round at Snetterton

Raikkonen Robertson Racing's (Double R) F3 driver Atte Mustonen finished eigth in Sunday mornng's race and sixth in the afternoon's race of the British F3 round at Snetterton this weekend.

Saturday's qualifying session was wet and windy; nothing new to the F3 drivers, who by now must be used to such conditions. Atte once again had to put up with a car that was off the pace, and could only manage tenth on the grid for the first start. The fastest three qualifiers were, in order, Michael Devaney/Ultimate Motorsport, Nick Tandy/JTR With Marshall Westland and Jaime Alguersuari/Carlin Motorsport. Atte did somewhat better in the second qualifying session, securing a start from fifth on the grid for the afternoon's race. Pole was taken by Carlin Motorsport's Brendon Hartley, with Fortec Motorsport's Sebastian Hohenthal starting from second and T-Sport's Sergio Perez from third.

Both of Sunday's races were held in dry conditions. The morning race was won by Michael Devaney/Ultimate, with Jaime Alguersuari/Carlin second and Brendon Hartley/Carlin third. Atte moved up a couple of places to finish eigth. Later in the day Michael Devaney/Ultimate made a clean sweep, winning the second race. Sebastian Hohenthal/Fortec was second over the line, with Jaime Alguersuari/Carlin third. Atte grabbed himself sixth place.

"The car just won't run as fast as it should, no matter what we do to try and find more power," said Atte tersely of his Snetterton weekend.

The next round in the series is on 29.6. at Thruxton. Mustonen is currently third in the points standings, on 87 points. Ahead of him are Sergio Perez on 98 points, and Jaime Alguersuari on 99 points.
