MOSLER MOUNTS MOUNTAIN ATTACK AT ARMOR ALL BATHURST 12 HOUR

AN EXOTIC GT CAR WITH PROVEN BATHURST SUCCESS will return to Mount Panorama for the 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.

The British-built, Chevrolet powered Mosler MT900 GT3 will contest the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour on February 4-6 next year after an entry from Australian GT frontrunner Dean Grant was confirmed this week.

Grant will team with experienced Porsche competitor Max Twigg and multiple Commodore Cup Champion and Fujitsu series driver Geoff Emery in a combination sure to feature at the front of the field.

The mighty Mosler joins confirmed cars from Chevrolet, Ferrari and Porsche and BMW already entered for the race.

Whilst Grant's car is the first Mosler to enter for next year's race, the marque is not foreign to endurance races at Mount Panorama with a Mosler having finished second in the 2002 Bathurst 24 hour race.

Then driven by owner / driver Martin Short and an international team, the Mosler impressed with its reliability, it's supercar-good looks and will surely create the same impact when it returns in 2011.

Grant believes he can emulate that success with the strong team he has assembled for the 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.

"I think we have a very strong combination and I can't wait for the race," Grant, a Melbourne publican, said.

"Max (Twigg) is very experienced in these types of car in GT and Carrera Cup, while Geoff has recent endurance experience in the V8 Supercars having contested the Phillip Island and Bathurst races, which makes him very sharp.

"I've done the Malaysian 12 Hour race and the Nurburgring 24 hour, amongst others, so between the three of us we're a pretty experienced unit."

Grant said his preparation has already begun for the around-the-clock race next February.

"After our final GT round at Sandown the car will be stripped and completely rebuilt so it is as reliable as possible" he said.

"It's going to be a great car for Bathurst because it's so under-stressed and that will help the reliability. We won't rev it too hard and it will still be pretty quick.

"We'll make sure the car is perfect and then get the team sorted because, aside from managing the traffic, the race can be won or lost in the pits.

"To be able to race at Bathurst is a huge thing." He added.

The Grant / Twigg / Emery combination will be supported by Procon Developments and Vodka O.

The 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour is set to be the best yet and will include a broader vehicle eligibility list.

GT vehicles will join with production vehicles in 2011, with a total of 31 manufacturers eligible to compete in the around-the-clock Enduro at Mount Panorama from 4 to 6 February 2011.

Historic Group N Touring Cars, Group C&A Historic Touring Cars, Improved Production, HQ Holden's and Formula Vee will feature throughout Friday and Saturday's action, ensuring a racing program that caters to nearly every type of Australian Motorsport fan.
