Bathurst 12H: Michelin preview

MICHELIN aiming for success at The Mountain

MICHELIN is out to prove it offers the total package at the Armor All Bathurst 12 hour this weekend by delivering a tyre that excels in performance, reliability and fuel saving.

Michelin brings to the Bathurst 12 hour a racing pedigree built on championship or race wins in motorsport categories across the globe. From the 24 Hour of Le Mans, the American and Asian Le Mans Series, FIA GT, Super GT and more locally the Australian GT Championship.

With an impressive record of 19 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including taking out a 13th consecutive victory in 2010, Michelin is a proven world leader when it comes to endurance racing.

In the 2010, not only did they dominate the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Michelin tyres helped set three records during the race: longest distance covered, highest speed attained and total mileage.

In this weekends Bathurst 12-hour endurance race, 18 competitors will be running Michelin tyres. GT runners including the Team Joest Audi R8 of reigning Bathurst 1000 Champion Craig Lowndes, the Porsche GT3 Cup S of Australian GT Champions Wall Racing and Hector Lester's Ferrari 430 GT3, will all be running on Michelin tyres.

"At Michelin, motorsport is a way of life," said Michelin's Pacific Motorsport Manager Regis Jeandenand.

"It allows us to prove that our combination of innovation, reliability and performance is a winning formula.

"But it is not just our racing partners who benefit from the latest technological breakthroughs made in the world of circuit racing; the technology developed on the track is used to develop our passenger tyres.

"Michelin is proud to be involved with the Bathurst 12 hour this weekend and I wish all the competitors the best of luck -- I hope we see yet another classic endurance race at the Mountain."
