Today's twenty minutes qualifying session was held in sunny and warm conditions. The number 85 Spyker Squadron C8 Spyder, driven by Dutchman Peter Kox and Czech Jarek Janis, will start from an eleventh position on the grid tomorrow.
Jarek qualified the car today. He joined the GT field mid-session and set his quickest time, a 1:52.730, in the second lap of his five lap qualifying session. Jarek: "I tried to do my best but I wanted too much. I made a little mistake and spun in my quickest lap. We know for the 1000km race tomorrow that our strongest point is continuity and our overall speed over the long runs. We will try to double- stint the tires to save some time in the pit and hope to stay out of trouble during the six hour race just like we did at Sebring last month where we were able to move from the back of the field to a fourth position".
Peter van Erp: "We are about 2.3 seconds behind the quickest teams in class. We could have gone a bit faster but in general the picture is similar to Sebring and Paul Ricard. At Sebring, with the Michelins, we were roughly 2,5 seconds behind the leaders and now, with Dunlop tires, the gap is similar to the quicker teams in front of us also running Dunlops or Pirreli's. So I am quite satisfied with the tires."
The mechanics are now working hard to get the car ready for the race tomorrow at 13:00. The race will be broadcasted live at MotorsTV.
