GULF WIN LE MANS ENDURANCE AT SILVERSTONE!

Silverstone Circuit, UK: A Gulf Courage-Ford defied treacherous conditions to take the class win in this weekend's Silverstone 1000km day/night race. An international line-up of 47 cars and torrential rain ensured an action-packed event with spills, crashes and the safety car prominent during the first three hours.

The Gulf backed LMP2 Courage 65 of Paul Belmondo Racing, driven by Belgian Vincent Vose, Frenchman Claude-Yves Gosselin and Swiss-based Karim Ojjeh, had qualified in 13th place - 5th in class - but wasted no time in setting about the field with Vose outstanding in the wet conditions and clever pit strategy a feature of the teams strong performance

The closely fought six hour endurance race was eventually won by the Audi R8 of Alan McNish and Stephane Ortelli with the Gulf Courage-Ford fourth, first in class and 2 laps ahead of its nearest rival.

The next race takes place at the Nurburgring. Germany, on 3rd/4th September.
