Motor Sports Association confirms new MSA British Endurance Championship

The Motor Sports Association and Britcar Limited have finalised an agreement for the creation of the MSA British Endurance Championship with effect from 1 January 2011.

The MSA British Endurance Championship will take its place on the MSA-sanctioned roster alongside the UK's premier championships, including the MSA British Touring Car Championship and the MSA British Rally Championship. The winners of the new championship will receive their award at the MSA's prestigious Night of Champions ceremony at Pall Mall.

The new championship will feature a total of eight rounds which will each have a minimum duration of three hours. The cars will come from the GT2, GT3 and GT4 categories and each car must feature at least two drivers during each race. The full regulations are yet to be finalised and approved by the MSA, but the organisers have proposed that next year's annual 24-hour race at Silverstone will be one of the rounds.
