The Twenty Most Consistent Drivers. ---------------------------------------- It will always be controversial to say that one driver is or was better than another but people always want to know - "Who's the best?" This page tries to say who's the best scoring. Drivers are ranked here by the points to races ratio as points are a better judge of consistency than wins are. I did not consider drivers with less than twenty races - I had to draw the line somewhere and that was a nice round number. ---------------------------------------- The Most Consistent Formula 1 Drivers Position Driver Races Points Ratio 1 Juan Manuel Fangio 51 303 5.941 2 Alberto Ascari 31 151 4.871 3 Damon Hill 52 239 4.596 4 Michael Schumacher 70 303 4.329 5 Alain Prost 199 847 4.256 6 Giuseppe Farina 33 140 4.242 7 Jim Clark 72 299 4.153 8 Ayrton Senna 161 648 4.025 9 Jackie Stewart 99 387 3.909 10 Sterling Moss 66 204 3.091 11 Jose Froilan Gonzalez 26 77.5 2.981 12 Mike Hawthorn 45 131 2.911 13 Nigel Mansell 187 501 2.679 14 Niki Lauda 170 446 2.624 15 Nelson Piquet 202 509 2.520 16 Jody Scheckter 109 265 2.431 17 David Coulthard 26 62 2.385 18 Denny Hulme 112 258 2.304 19 Jack Brabham 126 284 2.254 20 Carlos Reutemann 146 324 2.219 This has been updated to take Melbourne '96 into account
