Shell Technical Briefing
Britain - Silverstone

Fuel

*Shell ULG58/L4 will be used again in Silverstone, although there is a new evolution of fuel awaiting introduction. Shell ULG58L4 suits Silverstone well however and will be retained for this race
*With the weather often playing an important part in the British race, Ferrari will be looking for a strategy that is adaptable as that used in France last weekend
*Luca Baldisserri, credited by Ross Brawn as the mind behind the 16 point-winning strategy in France, will need to be able to rely on Shell ULG58/L4 to provide the power, economy and drivability for the final strategy

Lubricant

*Ferrari will revert to using Shell Helix SL785 in Silverstone unless the ambient temperatures are very high
*Shell Helix SL0848 (as used in Canada, the USA and in France) is more likely to be reserved for hotter, faster races in the future
*Silverstone's high speeds offer good cooling for the cars, although the harsh nature of the circuit cannot be underestimated. Running quickly for so long, around several high-speed third and fourth gear corners asks for a great deal of torque and stresses the engine in a slightly unusual way
*Add to that the low speed complex at the end of the lap and one begins to understand the rather unique engine stresses at Silverstone
*Shell Helix SL785 has been tried and tested throughout the season so Ferrari and Shell have every confidence in its continued success
