It was a usual first day of Free Practice for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team, with both the drivers concentrating on doing their usual Friday homework. Both cars ran reliably.

Nick Heidfeld:

"The only true problem we had today was that we had to change the radio in the second session therefore we had to do a small compromise on our planned schedule, changing it a bit around. Still, overall it was a good day in terms of what we managed to do."

Mark Webber:

"We have worked hard in both sessions in terms to get more out of the car because we have to find some more pace, no question about it. We've done some work with Michelin too to pick the right tyre, which are both working well. We will go through our data tonight and I am sure the engineers will do a good job and we'll come back with a better pace tomorrow."

Sam Michael (Technical Director, WilliamsF1):

"We have had a reasonable day in terms of the programme. We did all our homework on tyres, brakes and cooling. We have some aerodynamic improvements here to the car. They are all working well and as expected. Now we need to work on improvements for tomorrow."

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):

"From the engine side it was a trouble-free practice. Both our drivers completed the scheduled laps for tyre evaluation. In terms of performance it is too early to say where we will be here."
