Williams driver Marc Gene answers questions on replacing Ralf Schumacher and his return to competition.

Q: What did you think when hearing that you were supposed to replace Ralf?

Marc Gene.

MG: To be honest, I was very surprised. When I woke up I had no idea that this might happen. I was still in bed when I got the call. It was like a dream. But of course I'm really sorry for Ralf as he still had the chance to win the championship.

Q: You have been testing the car a lot, but you haven't contested a GP weekend for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team so far. How does it feel?

MG: It wasn't easy and I made some mistakes in the course of my lap. But the car is anything but new to me. I have already done thousands of laps behind the wheel of the WilliamsF1 BMW FW25. I know exactly what the car is like.

Q: And you have been testing here in Monza already last week.

MG: Yes indeed. The preconditions for such a sudden order to go into action couldn't have been better for me. On the one hand I have been testing here some days ago, on the other hand I'm not only a test driver but I'm racing regularly as well. This helps to stay sharp.

Q: After you had completed your lap Juan Pablo was nodding appreciatively. Are you pleased to hear that?

MG: My qualifying lap was the best lap I've completed today (Saturday). That's the way it has to be. And Juan Pablo helped me quite a lot today. We are a team. Now I really hope that I will be able to help him tomorrow on his way to win the title.
