Nick Heidfeld and Anthony Davidson are ready for their test with Williams and, obviously, both are eager to please. Williams announced this week that the pair would try out at Jerez in December as the team works towards finalising its driver line up for 2005. Mark Webber is already signed for one race seat.

Heidfeld struggled with the reluctant Jordan this year and is eager to try out a competitive car. "I'm looking forward to my test with Williams at Jerez," he said, according to news agency SID. "I'll fully concentrate on the job from now on and want to do the best I can during the test. I want to use this chance to prove myself to the team."

Davidson, who was third driver for BAR in 2004, impressed with his performances in the Friday practice sessions of race weekends. "It's a tremendously exciting opportunity. I can't wait to get in the car and show what I can do," he told Autosport. "Yep, I admit it, I'm dead chuffed."

Williams test driver Antonio Pizzonia is thought to be the favourite for the race seat but the rumour mill has it that Webber is not keen on the Brazilian. The pair raced together at Jaguar for a few months last season and apparently Mark would rather not repeat the experience.

Webber and Pizzonia will commence Williams' winter test programme at Barcelona on November 24th, while Davidson will take to the Jerez track starting December 1st. Heidfeld will be behind the wheel at Jerez from December 9th. David Coulthard reportedly visited Williams HQ recently to pitch his case but the team has not confirmed a test for the Scot.
