HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX - Hungaroring, 14th August 1998 FREE PRACTICE

SHINJI NAKANO Chassis 04 17th laps 31 time: 1:22,940 "In this first testing day it was not that easy to find the right balance of the car, because of the conditions of the track, which were the opposite in the second session, compared with the first one, but mostly because today - both Tuero and myself - used the new wider front tyre (E type, respect the previous M type) for the very first time."

ESTEBAN TUERO Chassis 05 20th laps 46 time: 1:23,671 "I have run a lot in both sessions, but I wish I could have done a bit more running on a dry track, to become more familiar with it. I like the Hungaroring, even if it is slightly difficult to learn it, because it is tight and twisty. Today I worked for the first time - and well - with Gianfranco Fantuzzi, my new race engineer. I know that, in the past, at Ferrari, he was taking care of Berger and Capelli: I hope that with his help I will be able to become as good a driver."

TREVOR KNOWLES - (Ford Cosworth) Support engineer: "Today we ran, as normal, used engines and they were both M3 spec. We were surprised by the weather, this morning, as we thought we were going to have problems in keeping the temperature down, but at the start we had troubles in getting the temperature up! But apart from that, everything went well. Routine engines change this evening: two more M3 for tomorrow's running."
