Jordan has high hopes for future

Eddie Jordan hopes to be giving the likes of Williams and McLaren something to worry about next year and believes his team is heading towards significant improvements. Jordan recently lost major sponsor Deutsche Post but Eddie is not unduly concerned, believing his team works better when finances are tight. With the return of designer Gary Anderson, who had a spell at Jaguar, the experience of Henri Durand and the new Cosworth engine deal, Jordan's future is looking bright.

"We have a couple of things that give us huge hope," Jordan told the Daily Telegraph newspaper. "First of all Gary Anderson is back. He had a couple of years out. I hope we can get back to where we were when he left, which was winning ways. We've also got Henri Durand who spent 10 years at Ferrari and almost as many years at McLaren."

'There has never been a bigger jump from where we were to where we will be in terms of the engine alone, its lightness, its speed and its power. We will see a significant improvement in times and that will be matched by improved aero design. You can ask anyone in the factory. You can't really say you are going to blow off the likes of McLaren and Williams but one thing is for sure, we will be right on their tails."

Jordan has yet to announce a driver line-up for 2003 and who will partner Giancarlo Fisichella is the subject of much speculation. The team would like to keep Takuma Sato but the ever-present financial demands mean Sato may lose his seat to someone with more sponsorship. Eddie Irvine, Felipe Massa and Anthony Davidson have all been linked with Jordan.
