Stirling Moss has applauded the rule changes made to Formula One and thought the Australian Grand Prix was one of the best races he'd seen. The British racing legend is looking forward to the banning of traction control, from the British Grand Prix in July, but believes the new regulations could have gone further.

"I don't think they have gone far enough with the rule changes," said Moss, according to the BBC, although he conceded that things were better. "Melbourne was one of the best races and certainly the most exciting qualifying sessions I can remember for a long time. And single lap qualifying has put more pressure on the drivers and that will make it more exciting."

"But I am particularly looking forward to when they remove traction control. To get into a F1 car like they are now will be difficult to control. The cars are going to be very, very difficult to drive without traction control and the more responsibility you put upon the driver to demonstrate his skill together with the car's ability is beneficial."

Along with traction control, launch control and fully automatic gearboxes will also be illegal from Silverstone. Michael Schumacher was disappointed about the driver aids being outlawed because it lessened the chances of driving a perfect lap. Moss was surprised that Schumacher would not be in favour of control returning to the driver, so he could show his talents more.

"I would have thought Michael would have looked forward to the traction control being removed," he commented. "It's interesting that he is not. My feeling about motor racing is that you get exhilarated as a driver because you take a vehicle and demonstrate how good you are."

"But Michael wants to demonstrate the finite line, not being able to take it and get it that way. But then he is modern and I am old but in my opinion he will find less trouble dealing with horsepower than most."
