Perez "scared" by first practice roll

The Force India driver suffered an apparent suspension problem on the exit of Turn 11 during the morning session, his car ending hitting the barriers and rolling before coming to a halt upside down.

Although Perez was unhurt, he and teammate Nico Hulkenberg did not run in FP2 as the team continued to analyse the problem.

"It was quite a dramatic accident," said Perez after practice. "The impact was not that bad, but then I rolled over and I got a bit scared.

"Getting out of the car was quite a challenge in that position, but thank god nothing happened and I'm here for tomorrow.

"It's something we can learn from, and something that we can analyse. We should definitely analyse my accident and see if there's something we can improve."

Still investigating

The Mexican admitted Force India had no answers yet about the cause of the failure and said he had not realised something had failed until he saw the replay on television.

"We are still trying to find out," he added. "We saw on the video that the rear suspension kind of bent, so we are still analysing with the factory to make sure that we can run in the next days.

"The team has plenty of information to analyse, and I think we took the right decision not to run with Nico until we make sure that we have solved the issues.

"I thought the AstroTurf was very dirty at the time. Now looking at the video and the data it's quite clear that the rear suspension breaks down."

He conceded the team will need to make up for the lost time in tomorrow's final practice if it is to have a good weekend.

"It obviously hurts a lot. We don't have a lot of information from the track or the option compound. I hope we can have a very good FP3 and I still believe we can do a good weekend."
