Ralf Schumacher needs to think positive to win the title this year, in the opinion of Williams technical director Patrick Head. Where Schumacher Junior has to be more consistent, Head believes, is in making the car work for him and not letting something like poor set up distract him.

"If the car is bad at the start of a race meeting, it can be very hard work to turn it around for him," said Head according to the BBC. "Ralf must get his head around limiting the damage if the car is not good. He will know this year will be an opportunity to win the championship and he will be putting all his effort into trying to make that happen."

"The team does its best job of predicting the best set-up for that circuit and the driver has an open input into that. And if they haven't selected right, or maybe the characteristic of the car isn't optimum for that track, then the driver has to immediately switch into: 'How can I do the least damage to my championship?'"

"He's got to have positive attitude to it. If, say, the car was not very good and he comes away with a second place, then he's got to say that was a good weekend; I limited the damage. That's an important thing for Ralf to get his head around."

Schumacher has been criticised in the past for being inconsistent in races and team boss Frank Williams admits he could be more aggressive sometimes. "Ralf's a funny guy," Williams commented. "There were some races last year, notably Japan and Hungary, when he would pass people as if they were not there, which he normally doesn't do."

"I guess he's not aggressive enough on those (other occasions). But it's easy to be critical of anybody if you want to be, and he's fearsomely quick in the right circumstances."
